Meet Your Coach
Leigh Murray Winstead
Certified MPM Coach Coach Leigh is passionate about building character and teaching life lessons through sport. As a former Division I student-athlete, she understands firsthand how athletics develops leadership, resilience, confidence, communication, discipline, and work ethic—skills that shaped her path through law school, legal practice, teaching, and coaching.
Her interest in the mental game grew while coaching at the high school level and teaching at George Mason University Law School. After studying leading mental performance coaches and completing an intensive certification program, she became a Mental Performance Mastery Certified Coach. Across 11 years as a softball coach, mental performance has remained central to her approach.
Today, Coach Leigh is the Head Softball Coach at Marymount University, where she has built a mental performance system that is a cornerstone of the program. In her first two seasons as head coach, Marymount won its first Atlantic East Conference Championship, made its first NCAA tournament appearance, set a single-season wins record, won back-to-back conference championships, and earned numerous postseason honors, including Conference Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year.
Coach Leigh’s goal is to teach athletes the same mental skills that have made a lasting impact in her own life—helping them elevate their performance on the field and grow with confidence off the field.
